Thanks for sharing details and internal politics. For the conclusion, I think from a different aspect. Apple has been mostly a hardware company, which makes it different from some other tech firms like Meta, Google, and Amazon. I am not sure that Apple's strategy has to be the same as other firms to develop its own AI model. I think the key is first to come up with an AI strategy that aligns with its strength, i.e., delivering the most user-friendly gadget. Once they have a clear strategy, they can think about what structure changes need to be made.

Excellent point! But given Apple's focus on privacy, their model is antithetical to the other LLMs at this point. It will be interesting to see what strategy they decide to pursue.

Thank you Prof. This is a really timely article that shows even the most well-resourced companies on earth can fail to innovate if it thinks, organizes and acts like the company of yesterday. And often, it is harder for companies who are sitting on successes today (and yesterday) to make tough changes. Will share this with my organization.
